Creative & Cultural Leadership Outside the Capitals

What does it mean to lead creatively in a regional or remote place? This panel brings together artists, cultural workers and community leaders to explore how creative practice can shape the identity, confidence and visibility of a place.

From artists and local champions to long-term cultural workers, the conversation will examine leadership models that are embedded, relational and responsive to place. Panellists will reflect on balancing artistic ambition with community connection and practical delivery, while considering the value of experimental, site-responsive and locally grounded creative work.

The discussion will also explore how ecology, land, environment and local stories can inform creative leadership across arts, live music, civic, business and community contexts. Together, panellists will consider what regional leaders need to sustain their work over time, sharing lessons from people already building strong, distinctive and connected creative practice outside the capitals.
