Loren Kronemeyer
Loren Kronemyer is Artistic Director of The Unconformity, an arts organisation that explores new cultural commodities on the wild and mountainous western fringe of Lutruwita/Tasmania, Australia.
The Unconformity is deeply embedded in the western Tasmanian landscape — a region shaped by extraction, extremity, and complex entanglements of beauty and devastation. Our iconic programming invites artists and audiences to reckon with this place on its own terms — one of sulphur-stained rivers, deep geological scars, and fierce local pride. The Unconformity’s team has received national and international recognition for its unique approach to programming in place, articulating how experimental art can create social impact and offer alternative visions of the future. Under her stewardship, the programming of The Unconformity has explored new ways of centring music’s role in cultural recovery.
Loren is also an artist, her works spanning interactive and live performance, experimental media art, curatorial work, and large-scale world-building projects aimed at exploring ecological futures and survival skills. She works solo, and in collaboration as Pony Express. Her work has played a role in brokering diplomacy around ecological issues, via projects like Ecosexual Bathhouse and The Queer Woodchop by Pony Express, and The Forest Congress by the Museum of Old and New Art.
