Join Australia’s music leaders in New South Wales in 2025 to continue the conversation.

2025 dates and location in NSW to be announced.

Our vast regional and remote areas, home to 7 million people (28% of the population), are integral to shaping the nation’s music industry. ‘Revive’, the National Cultural Policy, recognises the value of regional music and aspires to create ‘a place for every story and a story for every place’.

From 7–9 August 2024, music experts, artists, policymakers, academics, and community leaders from the NT and beyond gathered in Darwin for the first-ever Regional and Remote Music Summit. Their aim was to create a new narrative for regional music-making – one that amplifies, connects, and strengthens our entire ecosystem.

The 2024 Summit Program presented panel sessions, case studies, keynote presentations and roundtable forums that respond to number of broad themes, including:

  • Place, storytelling, and culture
  • Regional and remote live music and festivals
  • Adapting to the climate crisis
  • Understanding and connecting with audiences
  • The importance of safe spaces
  • Skills gaps and building capacity
  • Policy and investment

Join us in 2025 to discover new solutions and collaborations as we continue to work together to map an ambitious plan for regional and remote music.

Presented by MusicNT

The inaugural Regional & Remote Music Summit was presented by MusicNT, the peak body for music in the Northern Territory. From the Central Desert to the Far North, the NT is home to a diverse music industry driven by passionate artists, industry and community.

MusicNT’s mission is to support the growth and development of the contemporary music industry in the Northern Territory and we do this through a suite of programs that enable NT musicians to create and export their music to the world, as well as working to grow the capacity of the NT music industry.
