Sophie Edwards
The past three years for Canberra-based artist, songwriter and producer Sophie Edwards have been a whirlwind of music and creativity. After becoming the first Australian musician to study a Masters of Songwriting and Production at Berklee College of Music in NYC, Sophie returned to Australia and spared no time establishing herself as an artist-producer to watch in her home market.
Sophie’s first release post-homecoming ‘4kInMyBrain’ received airplay on triple j and community radio, and her follow up ‘4 Walls and a Telephone’ earned her a performance at Spilt Milk as the triple j Unearthed competition winner, adding to a growing festival resumé which also includes BIGSOUND, Stonefest and Groovin The Moo.
In 2024 Sophie represented Australia as a songwriter and producer at the Martin Garrix Academy, travelling to Amsterdam in partnership with JBL Audio. In 2025 she was selected as a producer at APRA AMCOS’ SongHubs LOOP(ed) at Bakehouse Studios in Melbourne. In January she rang in the new year with a nomination for “Breakthrough Producer of the Year” at the 2026 MPEG Awards.
As a producer and a songwriter, Sophie has worked with artists such as Kimbra, Jerry Barnes (bassist for Nile Rodgers), Jared Benjamin, Jade Alice (Blusher) and Lara Buchanan, including co-writing and producing Lara’s latest single ‘Gold’ which received more than 1m streams in its first two weeks of release, as well as airplay on triple j and triple j Unearthed digital radio.
Sophie is currently hard at work on her debut self-produced album Bouquet, with releases for herself and others slated throughout 2026.
