Owen has been CEO of West Australian Music (WAM) since late 2024. Prior to this he spent over a decade in trade union leadership as Secretary and Assistant Secretary of UnionsWA from 2012 to 2024 leading significant campaigns on minimum wage, workplace safety and public sector pay.

Owen is currently a tribunal member of the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal, the independent statutory authority that sets the renumeration of politicians and senior public officials and is the Chairperson of the Work Health and Safety Commission, the states peak consultative body for workplace safety.

Owen has a passion for social justice and now brings his history of successful advocacy and campaigning to supporting and advancing the West Australian music industry.
