Ben Green is a Lecturer in Music Industry and Popular Culture at RMIT University, and a sociologist with extensive research in music and the arts. He recently worked with Yours & Owls on a case study of Wollongong to develop a framework for strengthening regional music ecosystems, supported by Sound NSW. Current work with industry and government partners includes ARC Linkage Project ‘Adapting to climate change in the Australian music festival ecosystem’, and ARC Discovery Project ‘Cultivating digital music-making in regional Australia’. He has published books and articles on regional music research, including the edited collection, Popular Music Scenes: Regional and Rural Perspectives (Palgrave 2023). He is a regular contributor to The Conversation, national media, and policy consultations concerning music.
