Daan Steffens has been involved in the DIY Australian music community for the past 10 years. 

Founding Gutwrench Records in 2022, Daan has dedicated the last four years to the elevation & documentation of his local scene. Best known for his DIY Summer series, Daan has been responsible for booking shows in kebab shops, bakeries, basketball courts, bus stops & under bridges. 

His commitment to the documentation of his local scene can be seen in his extensive video archive, radio show & up coming feature length documentary where he documents and highlights the music of Canberra’s yesterday and today. 

Expanding the Gutwrench team in 2025, Daan has been working hard behind the scenes to build up the label’s capabilities for future artist releases. 

Daan can be found playing drums in various bands and projects across the country or exploring his interests in the Mental Health sector, for which he just completed a Certificate IV at the Canberra Institute Of Technology
