With a career spanning over 60 years, Michael Chugg AM is a pioneer of the Australian music industry and a true legend, renowned both locally and internationally as one of the country’s most prominent music promoters.
Originally from Launceston in Northern Tasmania, Michael has maintained a strong connection with regional Australia throughout his career. He has brought Elton John to perform and rock with the crocs in Darwin, raised millions for disaster recovery in Australia’s regions, and continues to invest in grassroots artist development through Chugg Music.
Michael has also been instrumental in the inception and success of some of Australia’s most prolific music festivals, including St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and CMC Rocks – the largest country music festival in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting 23,000 visitors each year.
