Leah Flanagan is the Founder and Director of the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Music Office, an all-Indigenous-led and staffed department within APRA AMCOS. Established in 2020, the NATSIMO supports the growth and development of songwriters and composers and advocates for a thriving, self-determined Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music industry.
A renowned independent songwriter and musician, Leah’s journey as an artist has been woven with many diverse guest appearances, from Bernstein’s MASS to the Black Arm Band to working with diverse musicians such as regular collaborator Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil) to Archie Roach, John Cale, Yothu Yindi and Sinead O’Connor.
Most recently, Leah worked with iconic Australian band Midnight Oil from 2021 – 2022 contributing to their live band as a backing and featured vocalist for their Resist world tour and collaborator on their ARIA Award-winning EP The Makarrata Project.
