SUMMARY:How Do We Build and Sustain Success in Music?
DESCRIPTION:How do we define success in music when the measures that work in metropolitan centres do not always reflect the realities of regional and remote communities? This panel brings together leaders from festivals\, research\, artist management and community practice to explore how different places can define\, build and sustain success on their own terms. \nThe conversation will consider the relationship between economic viability and social\, cultural and community outcomes\, asking how artists\, venues\, festivals and audiences can thrive over time. Panellists will examine artist-defined versus funder-defined success\, the importance of participation and wellbeing\, and the role of audience development in building long-term cultural value. \nMoving beyond one-size-fits-all models\, the panel will explore how to avoid extractive approaches to regional engagement and what success looks like after the showcase\, grant or tour has ended. Together\, they will consider the conditions needed for music communities to remain active\, connected and sustainable.

SUMMARY:Adelaide University Alumni Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Join Adelaide University for an evening showcase at Limestone Coast Pantry\, featuring three talented acts from its alumni: My Cherie\, The Genevieves and DEM MOB. The line-up celebrates the creativity and ambition of artists who have come through the University\, while highlighting its local connection to the South East with its Mount Gambier campus in the town. Settle in for live music\, good company and a memorable evening. \nOpen to delegates and free to the general public (subject to capacity). \nLIVE MUSIC\nDEM MOB\nHailing from the APY Lands in the remote desert of South Australia\, DEM MOB are the most remote hip hop band on the planet — and the first hip hop group to rap in Pitjantjatjara. \nMy Cherie\nMy Chérie is a singer-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and producer based on Kaurna Land (Adelaide/Tarntanya). Raised in South Africa\, she crafts beautifully left-of-centre alt-pop and indie/folk-rock that is sonically immersive\, hypnotic\, and emotionally resonant\, moving between introspective softness and cinematic\, electrifying energy. \nThe Genevieves\nThe Genevieves are an Adelaide-based alternative rock band. The four piece occupy a sonic liminal space between dense\, guitar heavy soundscapes and self-reflective\, pop-derived melodies. Formed in 2023 as a solely collaborative project\, the absence of a consistent ‘front-person’ illuminates all four creative voices\, which manifests in their recorded work and live sets through ever-changing vocal combinations\, writing styles\, and a sense of unpredictability. Seeking to capitalise off the momentum built with their 2025 debut EP ‘Dog Dreams’ and two successful national tours\, The Genevieves–with ever-increasing national attention–are gearing up for a new single release in August.

SUMMARY:Introducing the Australian Music Touring Network
DESCRIPTION:How can artists and tour managers find the information they need to build more viable touring routes across Australia? This presentation introduces the Australian Music Touring Network\, a free online platform bringing Australia’s original live music venues together in one living\, map-based directory.  \nThe Network provides practical venue information including capacity\, technical specifications\, accessibility\, booking contacts\, preferred genres\, performance schedules and local knowledge. The session will explore how a shared national map can help artists\, managers\, venues and touring partners identify opportunities\, plan smarter routes and strengthen connections between metropolitan\, regional and remote communities. By providing equity of access to information\, helping to connect the right artist to the right venue\, the Australian Music Touring Network strengthens the connections that underpin successful touring and supports a more visible\, accessible and sustainable live music sector. \nAn evolution of MusicNSW’s Regional Touring Network\, the Australian Music Touring Network offers a new way to understand and support Australia’s venue infrastructure that makes live music touring possible.
