SUMMARY:Dashville Does The Bowlo
DESCRIPTION:Stay on after the Summit officially ends to keep hanging with the Dashville crew and for tunes from Magpie Diaries\, Mylee Grace\, Johnston City\, Joey Leigh Wagtail\, Piper Butcher\, Max Marvell\, Dave Wells\, Kingsley James and more. \nThis is a ticketed event open to the public. Summit delegates receive free entry. \nBurger Joint \nWith songs about dogs at the beach\, Chicken Parmys\, getting paid\, just being yourself and the importance of not just getting a beer for yourself when it’s your shout\, Burger Joint really are the people’s band. Whether it’s the hard hitting song lyrics\, or the fattest funkiest tunes you’ve ever heard that get you onto the Burger Joint dance floor\, one thing is certain\, this is where you will meet your new best mates. \nPiper Butcher \nCommanding audiences with soulful tones and an engrossing stage presence\,  songstress Piper Butcher will surely enchant you. Hailing from the Hunter – emerging artist Piper Butcher has played festivals including Dashville Skyline\, Thredbo Blues Festival\, Tamworth Country Music Festival\, Moruya Blues & Roots Festival and West Best Bloc Fest. From a full band sound to an exhilarating\, heartfelt solo story\, Piper showcases her soul in song; and there isn’t a single performance that is an exception. In fact- it’s a perfect illustration of where she has come from\, and where she’s heading… \nMylee Grace \nMylee Grace kicks your shins with music that’s sunshine sweet and beatdown gutter-street all at the same time. Hers is a sound that triumphs over the ordinary. Joy and melancholy are merely her playthings as she moves between meaning and mayhem\, poetry and pandemonium\, life learnings and shed skins with all the effortless whimsy of a woman at the peak of her art form. Grace’s troupe are her musical friends and family with whom she has defined the sound of alternative country anti-folk rock and roll. To enter their world is to “feel” the music at full force. \nJoey Leigh Wagtail \nSinger-songwriter\, Joey Leigh Wagtail\, an 893rd generation Dunghutti man\, has created an effortless sound that tears at your heartstrings then stitches them back together again — folk’n heavy blues on country music.” Joey and various iterations of the band are in the midst of planning a 2025 Australian tour in conjunction with the release of the debut album “Delusions of Grandeur”\, so sign up to the newsletter and follow Joey’s socials to stay in the loop. \nKingsley James \nMaitland singer-songwriter Kingsley James’s dulcet sound marries tones of earthiness with elements of soul\, folk and blues – powered by honest and vulnerable lyrics derived from the experiences of his everyday. Inspired by the early sounds of Marvin Gay and Elvis\, Kingsley’s true genre is soul itself\, reaching for something more than just the sounds but a feeling of what it brings. His other main influences are Jim James\, Marlon Williams and of course James Taylor. \nDave Wells \nThose that have witnessed a Dave Wells performance are privy to the beguiling power of this most rare of musicians\, whose command of both voice and guitar captivates to the point of transcendency. While his full-band shows are a must-see\, there’s an otherworldly majesty and emotive force at work when Wells is alone on stage with his six-stringed instrument. Some artists follow trends\, others carve their own path. With a reinvigorated spirit and expanding catalogue\, Wells is firmly on his own track and poised for a defining year.

SUMMARY:DIY or Die? Touring Regional & Remote Australia
DESCRIPTION:When you’re touring remote Australia\, is DIY the only way to survive? How can we make this kind of touring more sustainable and bring music to more communities? This session explores grassroots\, artist-led\, and community-oriented approaches to touring – where\, in the absence of traditional industry support\, artists often work solo or in small teams\, to make it happen. We’ll unpack what it really takes to keep this work going. \nPhoto: Mandy Hawkes by Swamp House Photography.

SUMMARY:On the Road to a Better Tour: The Future of Touring in a Climate-Conscious World
DESCRIPTION:Fresh off their 14-date ‘Love Is Off The Table’ regional tour\, which took their high-energy show to towns like Forth\, Albury\, and Rockhampton\, Oliver Leimbach of Lime Cordiale joins Green Music Australia’s Tim Shiel to explore how artists can reduce their touring footprint without losing the connection that comes from performing in regional communities. \nKnown for their sweaty\, intimate gigs in small rooms\, Lime Cordiale returned to their roots with the same raw energy that built their loyal following\, even after selling out arenas with their 2024 album ‘Enough of the Sweet Talk’. Long-time champions of community-focused\, regional touring\, the duo is now turning their attention to the environmental cost of being on the road\, the focus of their upcoming documentary ‘On the Road to a Better Tour’. \nIn this conversation with Tim Shiel\, who has been leading the recent ‘No Music On A Dead Planet’ campaign – they’ll reflect on what it means to tour more consciously in 2025\, how artists can advocate for change within the industry\, and why the future of touring must be both climate-aware and community-driven. \nPhoto by Maclay Heriot.

Expect short sets from new combinations of collaborators\, celebrating small-scale chaos\, sonic experimentation\, and Northern Rivers community spirit! All welcome\, limited capacity.

SUMMARY:The Push: Young people and Australian music
DESCRIPTION:Music is central to the lives of young Australians\, with two-thirds attending live music performances\, and 96% of young people aged 15-24 listening to recorded music. \nHowever\, access to music events is not a reality for all young people in Australia. There are fewer events in regional areas\, many events come with unaffordable ticket prices\, and rarely are live music events staged for underage audiences or designed to be accessible and culturally safe. Similarly\, young people are also experiencing barriers when it comes to pursuing a career within the Australian music industry – with more than half of young artists considering abandoning their pursuit of a career in music. \nAs highlighted as a case study in the National Cultural Policy: Revive\, for over three decades Australian youth music organisation The Push has been the entry point into Australian live music for millions of young people through its contemporary music programs and all-ages events. \nIn this session\, CEO\, Kate Duncan will unpack how The Push works with communities of young people across Australia – fostering a pipeline of music audiences\, artists and industry practitioners.
